A stock clutch is designed to work just good enough to get you through tame terrain. Throw on bigger tires, added weight or a change in elevation and you'll see a noticeable decrease in performance. Dalton Industries spent countless hours on the Dyno fine-tuning their clutch kit to provide a product that will address all of these conditions allowing optimal performance from your ride!

Outlander 1000 - Stock and oversized tires.

Renegade 1000 - Oversized tires* (or stock size for sand use or high elevation)

* Renegade 1000 Stock Tire - for typical hard packed and mixed trail use at low elevation, the factory calibration has proven to work well for the stock tires.

The new 1000 Outlander and Renegade models from Can Am are powerful performers. We now offer a new adjustable clutch kit that was designed for this application. Improved bottom and mid performance and built in tuneability. Adjustable flyweights, and an included instruction manual and set up guide allows you to have one clutch kit that can be set up to optimize efficiency for different conditions and tire sizes. The set up guide includes tested set ups and applications for both Outlander and Renegade versions.When set up properly for your application there is no loss of top speed.

For 29.5"+ tire sizes also order part number DPSS-B/V Black/Violet secondary spring.


Stock and oversized tires (up to and including 28”)

This one clutch tuning package can optimize CVT clutch calibration for different tires and terrains. Improved performance and clutch response. Proper clutch set up for your situation improves belt life.

The 2016-2024 is a 1000R model that sees new HP and different factory clutch components. This kit was designed to work with this model. New adjustable flyweight lever arms have a different profile than earlier versions, and were developed specific to this model. Tuning instructions for different applications are included in the “ Set up guide” in the instructions.

Additional Notes:

There are notes included in the set up guide of this kit to add an optional Secondary spring ( DPSS-B/V) if you ever change to 29.5” and larger tires. The kit instructions have details of how to set up the flyweights when using that optional spring with those tires.

If you already have 29.5” or larger tires on a regular Outlander or Renegade XXC 1000, order the DBO 1000M-16 clutch kit that includes the optional secondary spring.

 -The stock factory BRP belt is the best for this vehicle.

Extra large tires -29.5” and larger on Standard Outlander or Renegade

Fitment Note

  • Does NOT fit XMR Models (The 2016 and newer Outlander/Renegade XMR 1000 versions have lower gearing. Gearing and “rate of shift of the belt” are related. For the 2016+ XMR 1000 versions see kit # DBO 1000 X)

This clutch kit was developed to work with the 2016-24 1000R models listed. The kit is designed to help recover losses from extra large tires and mud applications. The 2016-24 is a 1000R model that sees new HP and different factory clutch components. A new flyweight profile is a different profile than previous year models. There are also new primary and secondary springs. The kit is designed to work together and the instructions show how to set the flyweights up for different applications.

For all 28” and smaller tires order the kit part DBO 1000R-16, as the secondary is not required (nor advised)There are notes included in the instructions for this kit that show you how to set the kit up for the smaller tire sizes with the stock secondary spring.

Frequently asked question: I have tires that are smaller than specified but they are heavy. I used a different secondary spring before on another model, and I want the best possible. Should I get this kit that has the secondary spring?

Answer: We have listed the options available for the model based on our testing. If you use the Black/Violet secondary spring on this model when not required it can cause losses in speed, poor fuel economy and negative side effects.

2025-2026 Can Am Outlander 1000 models

  • - 29.5-30” Extreme Mud tires, and all 32” tires.
  • - 0-3000' elevation

This kit is designed for those extreme mud competition type tires. The kit is designed to hold RPM in heavy mud and soft terrain.

Improved belt grip and superior “back shifting of the belt” as the vehicle senses load. Better response in those tough conditions and best suited to hard use with extra large tires. This kit includes a new set of adjustable flyweight lever arms that have a different profile for this application. A new clutch spring and two machined spring seats specific to the kit. The whole kit works together and the set up guide has specific instruction for different applications.

*Note: – if used for trail riding, this kit may have higher cruise RPM and lose a few MPH top end speed.

2025-2026 Can Am Outlander 1000 models

  • 28-30” tires* -Trail and mixed use applications.
  • 0-3000’ elevation

*Note: This kit is used for most applications of tires in this size range, especially if primarily trail riding with occasional mud, etc.
- for Extreme mud type tires and Mud competition, see kit part# DBO 1000M-25.

The 2025-2026 Outlander 1000 has a new engine and clutches. With stock tires it works quite well in stock form. Adding oversized tires hurts performance and can be harder on drive belts without proper re-calibration of the CVT system.

The DBO 1000-25 kit is a cost effective kit designed for larger tires.
It offers improved belt grip and superior acceleration. Enhances “back Shifting of the belt” to lower clutch ratio when the vehicle senses load in mud or soft terrain.

The kit includes a new spring, a machined primary spring seat, and a custom machined spring seat washer for the secondary clutch. This kit works together to calibrate properly for the gearing created from the larger tires.

    Best purchase yet ,makes my can-am outlander 1000R XT with 29 inch tires perform better than it did new with stock clutch and stock 26 inch tires. Very happy.
